No Pearls :(
We needed to get some money so a pearl expedition was in order. And the Persian Gulf seemed like the right venue.
Near the bulk container port (Port Saqr) is a reef from the remains of concrete buildings that have been pushed into the sea. At first glance a mess, but over the years the sea has reclaimed it and it is full of sea life, including oysters.

(Jaspenelle, many of the fancy shells you have, like the comb shell come from this beach.)

So. after a couple of hours of diving, and pulling sea urchin spines from various body parts. we had a small haul of oysters.

In the end no pearls, but a yummy oyster snack with lemon and tabasco.

So can you sell pearls for profit there?
Which reminds me if you ever run across any more shells like this:
http://portfolio.gracefulsymmetry.com/d/1080-2/seashell-pendulum (obviously I have painted it a little) I would pay for shipping, they make most excellent (and hard to find) pendulums.
I hope the urchins there are not of the poison spined variety...
