Wadi Wurayya - revisited

The last several weekends we have been further exploring one of the Fujairah areas, Wadi Wurayya.
I covered the first section of this wadi in a previous post.
This is one the few areas that has running water year round, and has pools and cascades that you can swim in.
The water also has small fish, frogs, dragonflies and other denizens.
The route into the wadi is rough and rocky but after several kilometers it is worth the trip.

This time we covered the final kilometer in the Jeeps that got increasingly rough, finally terminating in a pool. At this point the wadi narrowed so that no more driving could be done and the rest to be traversed on foot.

As we walked and scrambled up the wadi, each turn was a different view and mixture of rock and scenery.

Beautiful rock formations, strange drippings and water pools from the damp to waist high wading.

We had several difficult cascades to climb until we reached the end where we could go no further.

There was a semi-cavern of cold spring water about 4 meters deep that was fed by a small cascade at the end.

We climbed as high as possible above this spot to see the view below.

A trudge back and a promise to return before the heat of summer to further explore this area.

Happy Easter to all.
